Miscellaneous What-nots

Here are a few more pics from Uncle Freddie's visit, including pics of this cool Barefoot Wine cork Aunt Moira got for me when they were in Vegas. Cool baby!!! :)

Allow me to model...

Hee hee. (Thank you Aunt Moira!!)

Uncle Freddie happily visiting with his other niece, Wendy. He remembers her as a baby and has thought of her often over the years.

The fellas...

and an oversized alien dog named Huckleberry...

Last Friday I went to Tammy's so we could have another all-day gab fest. It totally rocked! I love that girl.

This time I remembered to take a pic of our munchkins:

Last week my friend Edith was cleaning out her house and gave me a box of dishes she's been toting around for ten years but never used. Since the theme in my kitchen is red, I've been thinking it would be fun to have black dishes. How perfect is that? Not as perfect as FREE black dishes, lemme tell ya!

Before:

And after:

Now I need to figure out what kind of glasses I'd like to go with these, cuz my mismatched plastic is a tad bit more noticeable to me now. :) I'm in no rush though. It's not like I'm entertaining the President for dinner or something. ;)

Slightly overdue soccer pics. This year I took them myself and saved a TON of money. I'm never buying through the league again.

Last but not least, a wee project I'm working on...

Nope, not a book. (Well, I AM working on a book, but this ain't it. This is the binder I used last time I wrote a book though. The manuscript was about twice this size.)

Have a good Fourth everyone!

Me and Tammy

Last Saturday I went to see my best friend Tammy. The phrase "best friend" doesn't seem to quite fit it all though. We've known each other since I was eight years old, and we spent so much time together that each of our parents felt they had another daughter. Here's a few pics from the good old days:

This is us camping (with my mom and her best friend Jan - they've been friends forever too, and Jan's another one that feels like family even though she technically isn't). Anyway, Mom and Jan took us camping a lot and I have such good memories of that. That's my poodle Missy on my lap. Every one in the world who knew this dog will tell you that she was a PAIN, but I'm here to tell you she was great! ;)

Tammy and I also vacationed with my dad a lot. In fact, when I visited Dad on the weekends and summers, Tammy pretty much always stayed with me too. It was so fun. This is at a lake with my dad's dog James (James Bond, LOL). That dog actually WAS great, and when my dad moved to California several years later, he gave the dog to Tammy's family.

Anyway, growing up Tammy felt like a sister to me, and she still does. When we were kids, we would insist that when we grew up we'd live next door to each other. Our parents would smile knowingly and say, "Uh huh." Well, they were right of course. It didn't work out quite like that.

We're both married with kids and have our own lives. We'll go months without talking to each other, and it's been YEARS since I saw her last. But our friendship is so deep, that it's not really impacted by any of that. We can pick up the phone and talk to each other like it was yesterday, no matter how long it's been. (And we'll talk for hours no matter how short it's been.)

Well, on Saturday we FINALLY got together at her house and it was so much fun!!! Mom and Jan came too for part of it, and we had a great time catching up and reminiscing. I stayed long after Mom and Jan left, though, and if it weren't for having to finalize my talk for church the next day, I would have stayed even later than I did. We had one of those two-hour goodbyes where you slowly work your way to the door and the car, but just keep right on talking. It was great. I really do need to see her more. It's been far too long.

And, this is very unlike me, but I was having too much fun talking to want to stop and take pictures. It wasn't until I got home that I realized I didn't get any pics of our kids playing together. (She has a very beautiful, smart, and sweet daughter, who was born just 2 weeks after John was born.) I could've just kicked myself for not getting pictures of them together. I only managed one, ONE picture, and here it is:

Ah. :) She's not my sister, she's more than my best friend... she's Tammy.
